Water and earth day

Created 4/19/09 by Bruce Missig

The easiest way to make a difference in the world is to make simple changes in your life.  Just by changing you habits you make a big difference in the world.  The easiest way to make a difference is to change over to highly concentrated biodegradable cleaners.

Now I know you are going to say will they work as good as what I buy in the store.  As a consumer you have to look for three things when you are buying a biodegradable cleaner.
1 Look for third party testing of the product to see if it does do the job.
2 Look and see which environmental groups are using it.
3 Look and see what their portfolio looks like for environmental awards.  You want to see big environmental awards you just don't want to see awards from the state or city that they are doing business in.
Concentrated cleaners are more expensive up front however they are cheaper in the long range on a per usage.
When you are buying a highly concentrated biodegrade able product you are:
1 Cutting down on the cost of making containers
2 Cutting down on the cost of packaging of the products
3 Less product going into a land fill
4 Less CO2 being released in making the containers and the transportation of these products.
5 Our clean up effort of sewer water will be less because there is less waste to clean.
6 You clothes and materials around the house will last longer
7 Gets the toxins out of the house that are leaching out of their containers
These are just a few of the benefits of going green.

Look for products that are Green Seal Certified.

These are the facts and figures from one company on the difference you can make going green.

For each one of their kits you can eliminate

248 lbs of green house gases
108 lbs of packaging
Which is the same as saving 10 trees
The calculations are based on how much their kit will replace of store purchased products.

They calculate that if every person in the U.S. switched to their products they could eliminate the pollution caused by 700,000 cars for a year.

Clue any product you see in the stores claiming to be earth friendly you better check into it because you are paying to ship a product that is about 90% water.

These are my thoughts on a simple solution for a big problem.

Have a great day
